Position Summary

The Kitchen Steward / Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school kitchen. This position ensures cleanliness, hygiene, and smooth functioning of food preparation areas, contributing to the overall health and well-being of students through safe and efficient food service.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in basic food preparation under the supervision of the head cook or catering supervisor
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen tools promptly and thoroughly
  • Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling practices
  • Support in receiving, unpacking, and storing kitchen supplies and ingredients
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages or expired items
  • Follow hygiene and safety protocols in line with food safety regulations
  • Help set up and clear dining areas before and after meal service
  • Assist with serving meals during peak hours when required

 Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate in Food Handling or Basic Culinary Skills (preferred)
  • Prior experience in a school or institutional kitchen is an advantage
  • Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
