Role Summary
The ECDE Teacher plays a vital role in laying the foundation for lifelong learning by nurturing the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development of young learners. This role involves creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that supports early childhood growth and prepares children for formal education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons aligned with national ECDE curriculum
- Foster a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment
- Monitor and assess individual student progress and development
- Promote positive behaviour and social interaction among learners
- Engage parents and guardians in their child’s learning journey
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and progress reports
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership on curriculum planning and school activities
- Ensure child safety and uphold safeguarding policies at all times

- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles
- Classroom management and child engagement techniques

- Basic ICT skills for record keeping and digital learning tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree, Diploma or Certificate in ECDE from a recognized institution
- Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
- First Aid training or child safety certification is an added advantage
- Experience working with children aged 3–8 years
