Network Administrator

The Network Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our organization’s computer networks. This role involves ensuring network availability, implementing security measures, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and optimizing network performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network protocols, hardware, and software, along with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other data communications systems.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problems and outages to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Perform network upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance tasks to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.
- Configure and manage network hardware such as routers, switches, access points, and servers.
- Administer network servers, including file, print, and application servers.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve technical issues and support end-users.
- Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and other network services.
- Implement and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to network infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Network+) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a Network Administrator or in a similar role, with at least 9 years of professional experience.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, BGP).
- Experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, HP, Dell).
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows Server and Linux.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
