The Bus Driver will be responsible for safely operating a bus on designated routes, adhering to schedules, and ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers. This role requires excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety regulations, and a customer-service-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will be reliable, punctual, and possess a valid commercial driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a bus safely and efficiently on assigned routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Pick up and drop off passengers at designated stops according to schedule.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents promptly to dispatch or management.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including those with special needs or disabilities, as required.
- Ensure passenger safety and comfort throughout the journey.
- Collect fares or verify passes, as applicable.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, dispatch, and other team members.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Complete daily logs, reports, and other necessary paperwork accurately.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 10 years experience.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger (P) and air brake endorsements.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Proven experience as a bus driver or in a similar professional driving role.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and ongoing random testing.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and transportation regulations.
- Strong commitment to safety and passenger well-being.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including sitting for extended periods, operating controls, and assisting passengers.
