Junior Secondary School Teacher (JSS Teacher)

Position Summary
The Junior Secondary School Teacher is responsible for delivering subject-specific instruction to learners in Grades 7 to 9, in alignment with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The teacher will foster academic excellence, critical thinking, and character development while creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centered lessons based on CBC guidelines
- Use varied instructional strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities
- Integrate digital literacy and life skills into subject teaching
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment tools
- Evaluate learner progress through formative and summative assessments
2. Classroom Management
- Establish a positive and respectful classroom culture
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies
- Maintain discipline in accordance with school policies
3. Learner Support
- Identify and support learners with special educational needs
- Provide academic and emotional guidance to students
- Promote inclusive practices and ensure all learners feel valued
4. Parental Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on learner progress
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school functions
- Encourage parental involvement in academic and extracurricular activities
5. Professional Development
- Engage in continuous professional learning and CBC training
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources
- Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and professional learning communities
6. Extracurricular Involvement
- Support and participate in school clubs, sports, and arts programs
- Mentor students in leadership and personal development activities
7. Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of learner performance and attendance
- Prepare reports and contribute to school improvement initiatives
- Uphold school policies and contribute to a safe and clean school environment
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or Diploma in Education with CBC training
- TSC registration and compliance with teaching standards
- Specialization in relevant subject areas (e.g., Mathematics, English, Science, etc.)
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)
- Strong understanding of CBC principles and learner-centered pedagogy
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
